The refered article review doesn’t mention the performance enhancement seeking behaviour that might drive some seekers of the ADHD diagnosis. Getting amphetamines or methylphenidate could be an inducement for being diagnosed, particularly if the school work is too “tough”, or there is an expectation from the discourse than it can make things “easier”.
I don’t know if it’s because it is non-existant, like a myth, not common in Brasil, the authors are either unaware or dismissive of one of their pivotal diagnoses, and the drivers to be diagnosed with it, at least in some other countries, as per the mainstream newspapers..
