This week’s song of the week is a beautiful original by MIA Reader Daniel Neal.
He says: “This is a song that I wrote after getting out of hospital after being sectioned after jumping off a railway bridge. It was written for my friends and family who helped me through that difficult time. I was very lucky to have people who I could trust, because the doctors were giving me medication that caused me akathisia, putting me in a desperate state, despite my protestations.
The “puzzle I couldn’t solve” refers both to a real physical puzzle that was in the psychiatric ward but was missing the pieces needed to finish it, the paradoxes of being hurt somewhere that was supposed to help me and the fact that I couldn’t escape my predicament without the support of my friends and family.”
